He is a veteran from Cecil Field in Jacksonville, the home of Maple Street Biscuit Company. ![]() We were fortunate to have Troy (manager/owner?) stop by and talk with us while we were there. A neat option instead of a name or number. You tell them your favorite band (Train) and they call that out when its ready for pickup. It was grits cut with cream cheese and butter, cheddar cheese, topped with pecan smoked bacon, and lastly, she wanted a sunny side up egg on top. The wife ordered the Bluegrass Grits Bowl. It consists of a fried chicken breast, bacon, cheese, a flaky yummy biscuit and the best sausage gravy I have had in a long time. Boy, were we glad we did! Upon the advice of the young lady at the register, I ordered The Five. The great reviews (although only 14 at the time) prompted us to try it out. After just leaving the VA, we opted to drive down Fletcher to Dale Mabry. I wasnt able to post this to the correct location on Dale Mabry, so I am posting here until my addition of that location shows up: We found this place through Yelp while traveling through Tampa on our way to Treasure Island to visit friends. The gravy was filled with chunky sausage bits and that biscuit? Man, that biscuit was righteous! Maple Street Biscuit Company, I'm just passing through town but it was a pleasure to dine at your establishment. Just a perfect southern breakfast, on target IMHO. Once it's all ready, they're singing my song! I'm dancing in Maple st!! Haha Man, chowing on this biscuit was like hearing Free Bird for the first time. ![]() I'm asked, what's your favorite karaoke song? Why it's Karma Chameleon! I'll also have a maple latte. I order the "Five and Dime" which is a flaky biscuit topped with a fried egg and smothered in sausage gravy. My BIL orders an adult selection, not too many carbs. No! It's time to get deep into the gravy baby. I can hear my wife, I'll just have an ice water. I'm with my in laws and my brother in law tells me we have to hit up this place before the wives wake up. ![]() I'm just funnin' but for someone who was stationed down south, this was a true biscuit experience. Maple Street Biscuit Company uses real sausage pieces where the hipsters probably use tofu and kale. The hipsters in Brooklyn can try to replicate good ol southern biscuits and gravy but it's not made with the southern know how of a true biscuit.
